Shift is a workflow management software service that helps people be more productive by connecting multiple email accounts, social networks and web apps. Instead of constantly switching between and logging in and out of different accounts, Shift’s streamlined workstation gives users quick access to everything they need in one place.
After using Facebook’s Automatic Placement feature for its social video campaigns, Shift discovered that the majority of impressions were on mobile devices. With mobile-first now the primary promotional strategy, Shift wanted a fast and efficient way to create effective mobile-optimized content from existing longform video assets.
Shift turned to the mobile creative specialists, Shuttlerock, to transform existing assets into stunning mobile ads that would introduce a new audience to its service and drive sign-ups.
As the videos targeted audiences who may not be familiar with Shift, Shuttlerock’s team ensured the Shift brand was prominently featured in the opening seconds. The original one-minute video was recut to 15 seconds, the recommended length for mobile video ads. Shuttlerock also converted the original video into different aspect ratios optimized for Feed, Stories, and In-Stream ad placements.
The original video relied on voice-over to tell the Shift story effectively. But evidence shows that many mobile users watch videos with the sound-off. Shuttlerock added captions that reflected the voiceover content so sound-off users didn’t miss out on any of the service’s great benefits.
The new campaign assets created by Shuttlerock for Shift were integrated into existing ad sets and soon delivered a significant increase in new users while reducing the company’s acquisition costs. The campaign was so successful that Shift has committed to prioritizing mobile-first video for future Facebook and Instagram campaigns.
